The Spirit Fire Global Conference on Abuse and Faith has posted its broadcast agenda and schedule, adjusted for public health care crises.
Please join our two-hour opening conference session, which airs via various channels at two times: Friday, July 31, 2020, at 12 noon ET, and Saturday, August 1, 2020, at 3 am ET (for international viewing).
Opening Mass will also be offered for survivors of abuse and their families and celebrated by Cardinal Sean O’Malley, OFM Cap., Archbishop of Boston and President of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors. Mass times are: July 31, 2020, 9 pm Eastern and August 1, 9 pm Eastern. We welcome Church leaders and clergy in other time zones to offer similar Masses for victims, families, and for our conference.
The Opening Session, titled “Our Catholic Story,” will be the first of 28 two-hour weekly sessions. There are two broadcast times: Fridays at 12 noon Eastern and Saturdays 3 am Eastern. Local times are found here.
“Our Catholic Story” begins a conference which will create a collection of stories from a wide range of Catholics and others who retell their first exposure to the scandals and their faith story following that encounter.
Interviewees are Spirit Fire survivors, friends, and renowned experts, including, during first broadcast, Cardinal Sean O’Malley, OFM Cap., Archbishop of Boston, and President John Garvey, of Catholic University. Over the coming weeks, interviewees will include people who offer first-person experience with recovery from abuse and/or with efforts to combat abuse and/or with reform in the Church or society.
With time, patience, and attention from all, our collection of interviews will create a comprehensive witness to the context, causes and just responses to the lasting legacy of abuse among individuals, families, parishes, and the Church. See the full program posted here, in the full agenda. Broadcast options may be found, along with links, on the Conference Website.
