The potential impact of wearing face masks on trauma survivors can be very serious. For some, it feels like a relief to hide a little more in a socially acceptable way. However, “many survivors are on high alert looking for cues of present danger in a world which was previously dangerous.” Masks obscure important facial cues that can reassure hyper-vigilant states.
